Court stays on I's release

The Madras High Court has issued a stay on the most anticipated film of the year 'I' release which is scheduled to hit the theatres for Pongal on January 15th. Picturehouse Media Limited has filed a suit in the court which claimed that producer of the film, Aascar Ravichandran has borrowed Rs 15 crore for the production of the film in February 2013 and signed an agreement that he would refund the amount before the release of the film.

As the petitioner did not receive any payment and 'I' is nearing for a release, he approached the court. An interim order was passed restraining the producers from the release of 'I' anywhere in the country and outside the country too, till January 30th . A total of Rs 17.5 crores needed to be paid by Aascar Films to Picturehouse Media. But according to the sources, Aascar Ravichandran is heard to be going ahead with film's release as per the mentioned date i,e. on January 15th.

We hear that negotiations are going on off the court and a settlement is expected at the end of the day.
