Berklee to honour AR Rahman

Berklee College of Music will honour music composer AR Rahman with Doctorate by for his  priceless contribution to the world of music. In a statement, the honour will be conferred on Rahman  best known globally for the original score and songs in Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Million Dollar Arm at an event at the Berklee College of Music on October 24th

At the concert, students and faculty will be performing on songs of Rahman paying tribute to the double Oscar Winner in Boston and Rahman will also join them. Delighted by the news Rahman said, “I’m deeply moved to receive an honorary doctorate from such a distinguished school which has contributed so much to the world of music. I’m especially proud and honoured the college is graciously establishing a scholarship in my name for future generations of musicians to follow their dreams.”

In addition to this, the college will also introduce a scholarship program on Rahman's name to bring students from India to Berklee and the funds raised from October 24 will go to the scholarship treasury.
