Salman Khan records statement in Mumbai Court

Bollywood super star Salman Khan was charged over 13 year old hit and run case for killing one person and injuring four by rashly ramming the car over the people sleeping on pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra in Mumbai. Judge DW Deshpande has summoned Salman to appear on Friday to give his statement under section 313 of Code of Criminal Procedures (CrPc), considered a crucial stage in the retrial of the case before the final arguments begin. Under this provision of CrPc, not only the accused gets a chance to put across his contention on the evidence adduced by the prosecution but also the court can ask him questions to clarify any ambiguity that may have cropped up during the trial, special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat told the Press.

The prosecution has also alleged that actor was under the influence of liquor and examined his blood samples to prove that before the mishap he had gone along with his friends to a bar in a hotel in the late hours on that day. On the other hand, Mr Khan has denied the prosecutor allegations that he was under the influence of liquor and that he was driving the car at the time of mishap. But the prosecution also examined the eye witness who saw actor getting down from care on the day of accident.

The statement of the Salman Khan Bodyguard Ravindra Patil was crucial who said that he informed driver not to drive rashly or else he would meet with an accident but he did not pay heed to his advice. He died during the trial but the court is yet to decide his evidence value later. The court would give its verdict after hearing to the arguments of both sides.
