Dhanush, Vetri Maaran predicted Worldwide Recognition

Kaaka Muttai, an upcoming Tamil film directed by debutant Manikandan, has been officially selected to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film is about two carefree slum boys who yearn to taste pizza, after a pizza parlour opens in their locality. This is the first time that a Tamil film has achieved the distinction of being chosen by the festival's organizers. It will be screened under the Discovery category, which features films from across the world.

Confirming the news, director M Manikandan says, "Even when I first narrated the story to my producers Vetri Maaran and Dhanush, they said that the film should get worldwide recognition. That's why, even though we had completed the film five months ago, we patiently waited for it to have a world premiere at an international film festival. We sent the film to the festival two months ago and I am happy that it got selected on the basis of its merit”. The film will have its world premiere on September 5th.
