A biopic on the legendary actress Savitri has been on cards from the past couple of years. Nag Ashwin who made an impressive debut with Nani’s Yevade Subramanyam is all set to direct the movie which has been titled Mahanati. The movie will be made on a massive budget and the entire pre-production work of the film has been wrapped up. Keerthy Suresh has been locked in to play the lead role in the movie and top actress Samantha will play the other crucial role.

The regular shoot of Mahanati will start on May 10th and will be shot in continuous schedules. The makers erected massive sets for the movie and Prakashraj, Anushka will be seen in other important roles. Malayalam actor Dulquer Salman will reprise the role of Gemini Ganeshan which is quite crucial. Produced by Swapna Cinema, Mahanati will hit the screens during the first half of next year.
