Neelakanta's upcoming film Maaya is finally gearing up for its release on August 1. The film, starring Harshvardhan Rane, Avantika Mishra, Sushma Raj and Nandini Rai, is based on the theme of extra-sensory perception and it's being touted as an edge of the seat thriller with a strong romantic angle. "I have been toying with the idea of this film even before I made my first film, Show. Finally, after all these years, I have completed making the film" Neelakanta said in an earlier interview.

The film's censor formalities have been completed and it has been given a U/A certificate by the censor board. Few days ago, the film was screened to a test audience and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so far. Madhura Sreedhar and MVK Reddy have produced the film. Harshvardhan Rane has played the role of a fashion designer whereas Avantika, who's making her debut, will be seen as a journalist.
