Top businessman BR Shetty based in UAE announced that he is all set to produce the epic Mahabharata and it will be made on a budget of Rs 1000 crores. The pre-production work of the film is on cards and is expected to start rolling next year. VA Shrikumar Menon, a Malayalam filmmaker has been asked to direct the film and he is busy finalizing the cast and crew of the movie. BR Shetty revealed that he decided to invest Rs 1000 crores on Mahabharata and is eagerly waiting for the film. He even said that he is expecting profits of 1 billion USD after the film’s release.
Mahabharata will be shot simultaneously in English, Hindi and Malayalam languages and it will be dubbed into the regional languages. Mahabharata will be made in two parts and will last for six hours. After 100 days of the release of the first part, the second part will hit the screens. Mohanlal has been roped in for the film and the other lead cast are being finalized. The movie will start rolling from May 2018 and it will hit the screens in 2020.
