Kalabhavan Mani’s original name was Kunnisseri Veettil Raman Mani who was born on Janaury 1st 1971 and he proved his skills as a stage artist initially after which he focussed completely on films. He started his career as a mimicry artist with the troupe called Kalabhavan after which it came his screen name. He has starred in over 200 films, including Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films, and is renowned for his comedy, character, and villain roles. He received theNational Film Award - Special Jury Award and Kerala State Film Award for his performance as Ramu in Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum (1999).

He received wide response for his performance in all the languages and the actor has been busy with all the South Indian films. He received many prestigious awards in his career as an actor and he always signed challenging roles which received critical acclaim from the audience. He even turned music composer for couple of Malayalam movies in his career. He worked as a play back singer for some of his movies which have been accepted widely by the audience. Kalabhavan Mani died on 6 March 2016, aged 45. At the first stage, he was admitted at Amrita Hospital, Kochi. It was revealed that the actor was going through critical stages of liver cirrhosis for a period of time. The police registered a case as unnatural death due to the presence of excessive methyl alcohol (a toxic chemical found in illicitly distilled liquor, Arrack) with acetaminophen in Kalabhavan Mani's body.
