The movie Purampokku has gained lot of interest because of its casting. The movie has Vijay Sethupathi, Arya and Shyam in the main leads and the movie has been co-produced, written and directed by S P Jananathan. Karthika Nair will be seen as the female lead in the movie. Vijay Sethupathi plays a railway employee, Arya plays a social activist and Shyam will be seen as a powerful cop. The latest news is that the movie has been locked for release in January 2015. 

 

UTV's Dhananjayan tweeted, "#Purampokku will be our next release in Jan'15. The film's shoot is nearing completion after shooting a long schedule in the jail set. #Purampokku will be a major solo release, whichever day it releases. Will not pitch against any major film in Jan'15 & will decide that time”. The theme of the film revolves around the relevance of capital punishment in a democratic and free society.[2] The movie is jointly produced by UTV Motion Pictures and S. P. Jananathan's production house Binary Pictures.
