The movie is about Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (Sushant Singh Rajput) who is a young detective and he tries solving a murder mystery. Ajit Bandyopadhyay (Anand Tiwari) hands over a case of his lost father named Bhuvan to Byomkesh. During his investigation Byomkesh comes to know that Tiwari’s father is dead. He then meets Dr Anukul Guha who is one of the suspect and he stays in his lodge where Tiwari’s father stayed. One death leads to another and Byomkesh gets trapped in solving the case which leads to other dissolved mysteries revolving Chinese mafia and freedom fighters. The rest of the movie is what happened next and did Byomkesh succeed in his operation?

The first half of the movie is very important and not even a single scene should be given a miss. The complete first half has been nail biting with lot of interest and suspence involved. On the whole the first half of the movie has been completely interesting with all the needed elements.

The second half of the movie involves lot of twists and turns which makes the movie confusing. The movie needs lot of brain work which makes the movie get repeled by the audience. Even the blood scenes in the second half play a major role but on the whole the second half of the film too is quite interesting.

Sushant Singh Rajput has been terrific as an actor and he has improved a lot He has been getting bright for every film and he has filled in the shoes of the detective perfectly. He has worked on his body language which made him perfect for the character of Byomkesh Bakshy Anand Tiwari and Swastika Mukherjee are brilliant. And a special mention goes to Neeraj, who easily walks away with all accolades in climax.

The story and the direction of the movie are the highlights of the film. The movie is a dark genre film handled with technical brilliance. The cinematography has been top notch and the background score takes the film to the next level. The editing has been perfect and the art department should be well appreciated for their fabulous sets. The production values have been grand enough and the director has completely succeeded in narrating one of the best thrillers in the recent times.
