Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty join hands for a Remake

Being one of the most iconic films in Bollywood, Ram Lakhan is one of the milestones in Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff's career. Now, the film is all set for a remake. Karan Johar recently announced that he will be producing the film along with the original showman Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts who created this cult movie in 1989.

Ram Lakhan will also see Karan Johar joining hands with the master of masala entertainer, filmmaker Rohit Shetty for the first time as he will be directing the remake. However, the details of the cast are yet to be finalized. The original film starred Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit playing the leading ladies. Along with the famous 'Lakhan' dance of Anil Kapoor, the film also had some applaudable performances from actors like Rakhi Gulzar and Amrish Puri among others.

Though the director cum producer refused to reveal about the commercials in public, we hear that the remake rights were purchased by Karan for a whopping Rs. 5 crores from Subhash Ghai. However, prior to this, Dharma Productions has many other projects in hand, which includes the Indian adaptation of Warrior starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra, Shuddhi starring Salman Khan among others. Karan also mentioned about producing an edgy sex comedy which will be directed by Sonam Nair.
