Maddy (Imran Khan) breaks up with Payal (Kangana Ranaut), due to a few of the ego clashes between the duo. Maddy, who was unable to take this, tries to commit suicide, by drinking phenyl. But upon his friends and sister suggesting that, it is better to leave Payal, Maddy stops for the time being. However, his love on Payal does not end there.  

One fine day, Maddy comes to know that, Payal is getting married to someone else and it was then, he decides to travel to Payal’s hometown in Delhi, to gain her back. Did he succeed in getting back? And what was the reason for their break up, forms the rest.

It seems, Katti Batti movie was inspired from several Hollywood movies like ‘500 Days of Sumer’, ‘Chasing Amy’ etc and also Nikhil Advani own debut movie,  “Kal ho na ho”. Most of the Katti Batti scenes are predictable and one who follows Nicholas Sparks and certain Keanu Reeves-Charlize Theron flick, can easily understand the major scenes, which are considered as twist in Katti Batti movie.

The regular South Indian or Punjabi families home fights, appear as a major minus to the movie. Finally, not just one movie, if you buy one Katti Batti movie ticket, you get the opportunity of watching many Hollywood, Bollywood and fortunately even the South Indian movies and adding to this, even the famous writers’ novels on a single screen and that too, in a span of one movie duration.

Imran Khan’s performance is top notch. His performance levels elevated a few of the key scenes of the Katti Batti movie. In the beginning, it was thought that, Imran might be dominated by Kangana Ranaut’s performance, but Imran got a lot to do with Katti Batti movie. In fact, Kangana’s talent is wasted in the movie, as she got no scenes to expose her real talent. The poor narration skills of the director, make her performance sound low.

And if Music is to be discussed, except Sarfira song, rest other songs sound so routine or to say noisy. Editing is fine, as the length is monitored well. The Cinematography is top notch, the production values are grand enough. Almost the complete technical department has no great flaws, except the poor narration skills.

Final word:

Katti Batti movie can be watchable, if are not a Hollywood movies or English novels follower. Otherwise, it can be omitted.
