Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone has been off from Bollywood from some time. She has been busy with her first Hollywood outing XXX: Return of the Xander Cage and she returned back to the country recently. She signed her next film titled Padmavati in the direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the regular shoot of the film kick-started on November 1st. Deepika Padukone is essaying the title role in the film and Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh will be seen in other crucial roles. The movie is said to be a periodic drama and is being made on a massive budget.

Padmavati is a dramatized account of 1303 siege of the Chittor Fort in Rajasthan. Alauddin Khilji led the invasion, motivated by his desire to capture the beautiful queen Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. Lavish sets have been laid in Mumbai Film City in which the film will be shot for over 200 days. As per the latest news, the makers of the film are in plans to release the movie on November 17th next year. Sanjay Leela Bhansali Films along with Viacom 18 Pictures are jointly producing the movie.
