This Diwali had an interesting clash at the box-office and two big films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay released during the festival weekend. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been the most awaited film which has been directed by Karan Johar. Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan played the lead roles in the movie. The film is said to be a romantic entertainer and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions produced the film. The movie collected Rs 80.19 crores across the first week all over the country and it dominated the box-office.

The movie has been quite strong even all over the international circles and the film minted over Rs 50 crores in its first week. Ajay Devgn who has been dreaming about his magnum opus released the movie titled Shivaay during the season. Directed by himself, Ajay Devgn, Sayesha Saigal, Erika Kaar played the lead roles in this action thriller. The movie too maintained strenght because of the positive word of mouth and it collected Rs 70.41 crores in its first week across India. Ajay Devgn Productions produced the film.
