The Pakistani actors have been banned from doing Indian films for time being and all the production houses agreed not to cast any Pakistani actors in the coming days. However movies like Ae Dil Hai Muskhil and Raees which completed shoot had Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan which turned out to be a huge trouble for the production houses. Though the government said no objection for the releases, it is Cinema Owners and exhibitors association, who has been showing objections.

After a meeting held, they decided not to screen Ae Dil Hai Muskhil and Raees as they feature Pakistani actors. In fact, earlier Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had threatened to block the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in Maharashtra. Later, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) announced a ban on Pakistani actors but had requested MNS for a smooth release of films that have already been finished.
